Label CopyWarrick’s tactile use of multilayered color contrasts the ethereal with the substance of memory. Her deft handcraft in the collagelike overlap and combination of various techniques result in thoughtfully composed images. She scratches, scrapes, and paints over and over, excavating a life beneath. At first glance, her discovery seems to reveal a world of wonder and childlike pleasure, but there is anger here, too, in an effort to seek out a truth. The furrows she digs create surfaces that trigger a forbidden desire to touch them, as if the very essence of the work could be transmitted through the fingertips.
