Label CopyThis Chimu-Inca aryballoid jar or urpu has a pointed base with two lug handles set low on the vessel body. The vessel is made of burnished blackware with designs of birds catching fish set in panels with raised-relief dots. The entire spout is broken off, but otherwise the vessel is in good condition. The vessel shape is diagnostic Inca but the decorative motifs and blackware are typically Chimu, making it likely that this vessel was made by native Chimu potters after the Inca conquest of Chimor in 1470 AD.Collections
