Label CopyChagoya alters very little of Goya’s original image in this print; the birdlike figure in the foreground wears a tape recorder and carries a video camera, perhaps as a commentary on the news media. Warhol’s Campbell’s soup can makes an appearance as well, foreshadowing later works by Chagoya in which Warhol’s iconic red bulwark of consumer culture is transformed to reflect Chagoya’s own anti-imperialist views. ("This is no Less Curious: Journeys through the Collection" cocurated by Sonja Gandert, Alexandra Palmer, and Alana Ryder and presented at the Johnson Museum January 24 - April 12, 2015)
