Label CopyThis broad shallow redware Mixtec bowl with an outwardly recurving rim has three feet in the shape of animal heads. The heads have pointed noses, painted red lines indicating eyelashes and teeth, with rows of triangles extending back from the neck. Bands of red and white decorate the area just below the exterior rim, while the interior rim area has more elaborate geometric designs in red, orange, and white. The center interior of the bowl is smudged with soot, which has also blackened the original decoration.
