Xiqiu year, summer, the sixth month [1769] [Signed] Dong Bangda Dong Bangda was a native of Fuyang, Zhejiang province. In 1733 he attained the jinshi degree, awarded upon passing the highest level of the civil service examinations. He held high offices in the imperial court and participated in the compilation of the Shiqu Baoji {Treasured Boxes of the Stony Moat], the catalogue of painting and calligraphy in emperor Qianlong¿s collection. He gained recognition for his landscape paintings and for his calligraphy in archaic styles.
