Label CopyIf you notice the artist's signature in the lower right corner of this painting, you will see the alternate spelling of his name: ELSEHMUS. In the apparent belief that his difficult and exotic-sounding name hampered his art career, Eilshemius signed his name in this simplified way between 1890 and 1913. Though he craved respect and recognition, significant sales and broad acclaim eluded him to the end.
