Name: Gustav Knauer Kunst-Abteilung
Remarks: Art transportation firm used by Nazis in WWII. Schenker firm was most popular, but Knauer was also critical in transporting and storing art and objects. According to Lynn Nicholas (in email to Alexandra Palmer from Nov-20-2015), author of The Rape of Europa and indpendent provenance researcher, "I know I have seen Knauer lists somewhere--I think maybe at NIOD in Amsterdam. But I do not have any file on them. I think the Schenker list is on Fold 3 and you should try that for Knauer too." According to Laurie Stein, independent provenance reseacher, in an email to Alexandra Palmer (Nov-25-2015): "Knauers Berlin offices were destroyed in bombings, have only found references from third party sources."
