The sculpture #71 is an example of Ashkin’s well-known miniature scale models from the 1990s, which depict marginalized landscapes such as mines, oil fields, and industrial wastelands that often surround our urban environments. It also depicts issues related to social, economic, and political exclusion and abandonment.
