The reverse features the image the figure of Columbia seen seated and crowning the same man seen on the obverse side of the medal with a crown of laurel leaves as he kneels at her feet.  An eagle is seen at Columbia's side, standing upon a shield and Roman fasces.  In the distance, a Clipper ship is seen to the left while to the right, the Capital building in Washington, D.C. is seen, with it's dome.  An inscription and dedication surround the scene.
