Obverse features the image of three muscular, male nudes mid-stride, jumping over a hurdle. The hurdle is seen beneath the three youths with a ribbon flowing in the wind featuring an inscription stating, "The Joy of Effort." The edge of the scene is framed with a wreath of laurel branches, symmetrically meeting beneath the figures. The reverse side of the medal features a scene of three nudes this time in front of what appears to be a goal post for a football field. The figures are seen from the side, each with one leg raised in the air as if kicking a fieldgoal (kicking a football). Two figures towards the back have their arms raised as well. A football is seen on the ground between the feet of two figures.</schema:description><schema:artForm>Metalwork</schema:artForm><schema:url>https://emuseum.cornell.edu/objects/27498/rdf</schema:url></schema:VisualArtwork></schema:itemListElement><schema:itemListElement><schema:VisualArtwork><schema:name>The Joy of Effort</schema:name><schema:dateCreated>1912</schema:dateCreated><schema:creator>[Robert Tait McKenzie, Medallic Art Co.]</schema:creator><schema:creator>Robert Tait McKenzie</schema:creator><schema:artMedium>Bronze</schema:artMedium><schema:description>Patina: golden Purpose: commemorative.
