On the upper right corner, the subject is given as \"Illustration of the second floor of the Bisho-ya (teahouse) in the new Yoshiwara district (in Edo/Tokyo).\" Eight geishas, with their names given in nearby cartouches, are seen from the open second story of a teahouse wearing sumptuous, multi-layered kimonos and elaborate hairdos and pins. Some are reading or holding text scrolls, perhaps letters; one holds a brush for writing. They are attended by finely-dressed young female servants. Several large and ribboned lanterns hang from the ceiling on the top; on the bottom near the balustrade are cherry and pine tree tops. The palette is dominated by saturated blue, red, and green."},"id":{"label":"Id","value":"185376"},"media":{"label":"Media","value":"82.068_Disc0415_04156032"},"title":{"label":"Title","value":"Illustration of the second floor of the Bicho-ya, in the New Yoshiwara district"},"people":{"label":"Artist / Maker / Culture","value":"Tsunoda Kunisada"}},{"sourceId":{"label":"Source ID","value":"37666"},"primaryMaker":{"label":"Primary Maker","value":"Tsunoda Kunisada"},"primaryMedia":{"value":"src: https://emuseum.cornell.edu/internal/media/dispatcher/73455/full"},"displayDate":{"label":"Date","value":"19th century"},"invno":{"label":"Object number","value":"84.043"},"description":{"label":"Description","value":"The character depicted in free hand is called Sukeroku, the hero of the play by the same name written in 1713.
