Ends remain of strap-like handle, now broken off. One large clay-like spur mark, with other remains of coarse sand and clay mixture above the base. Two characters, very faint, in what is probably iron underglaze paint, appear centered on one lobe. Body unknown, burnt reddish brown where exposed near base, covered with light blue-green glaze uncrackled except for lower area one side. Other melon-shaped pots are illustrated in Sekai To1ji Zenshu1  Vol. 13, Figs. 112, 113, 114, 120, 197, and in Gompertz' Korean Celadon Fig. 19. Condition:  Fair.  Handle missing, with gold lacquer covering two fractures.
