Two similar figures are seen inside the cottage; one at his desk, the other at a stove. Behind this structure at the edge of a body of water is a small bamboo grove. Further beyond is a stone bridge across water, and a low-lying waterfall. Temple buildings up on a hill to the right, surrounded by five straight pine trees and more trees. Rugged mountain peaks in the background. Depiction of varied foliages.
Title on the top of mount; 2 seals on the lower right side; 2 seals on the lower left side; 3 seals, signature & inscription on the upper right side; "Luxuriant valley and soaring peak now turn to autumn, the lodge in the park is swept, bamboos give coolness and seclusion. Casually, leaning on a staff, I idly come and go, From time to time with the mountain monk I talk over former journeys. -- For my friend K'ai-yüan, painted in the style of Tsao Yün-hsi (of the Yüan period)" [translated by H.
