Decorated inside with a molded peony and foliage. Pobbibly 12th c. Grey stoneware body with lustrous grey blue-green glaze. Very little crackle. With gently curving well-rounded sides above a sharply articulated foot; foot rim rounded and almost entirely glazed, as is base plate. spur marks irregular, about five quartz pebble-like remains, but small and neat. Mould-impressed pattern of peony blooms and foliage in shallow relif; chrysanthemum in bottom. Glaze is greyish-brown in part as from some oxidizing atmosphere in firing. Conditon: Excellent except for very small chip in footrim.
