Label CopyThe enso, a hand-drawn circle that is completed in one stroke, symbolizes the moment of enlightenment in Japanese Zen Buddhism. Ryoryosai Koshuku was a Zen Buddhist monk and tea master who named the Raku tea bowl “Old Pine Tree.” It is common to provide poetic names to treasured tea utensils. After enjoying a bowl of tea, guests will customarily ask the host if a bowl has a poetic name.Collections
