Fierce brow accentuates powerful facial expression; two fangs protrude from lips. Hair in coils that extend to shoulder; loose necklace made of metal and beads; double bracelets on wrists, upper arms, and ankles. One shoulder and chest exposed underneath a long, multi-layered robe painted with floral patterns in fine gold lines; elaborate drapery folds. Standing contrapposto, his hip and weight shift to his right, while his left foot steps forward slightly. Entire sculpture tarnished with age or by treatment, except for the sword which retains its unlacquered wooden surface. He stands on an organic rock form, which was once painted in polychrome but now darkened; what remain are the gilding and lacquer on the base. Fudo Myo-o (Acalanatha) is the wrathful manifestation of limitless generosity and compassion.</value></field><field label="Classifications" name="classification"><value>Sculpture</value></field><field label="Id" name="id"><value>213148</value></field><field label="Width" name="width"/><field label="Height" name="height"/><field label="Source ID" name="sourceId"><value>4615</value></field><field label="Depth" name="depth"/><field label="Artist / Maker / Culture" name="people"/><field label="Culture" name="culture"><value>Japan</value></field><field label="Media" name="media"><value>62.3254.1stview</value></field></object>
