Label CopyThe German artist Christiane Baumgartner combines woodcut—the oldest of print processes and one associated with early German artists such as Albrecht Dürer—with video to give us images of speed and movement. Here the action of the wind towers’ revolving wings is captured on film and transferred manually and painstakingly to a woodblock, checking the concept of speed implied by the use of video for the original image. ("Imprint/ In Print," curated by Nancy E. Green with assistance from Christian Waibel '17 and presented at the Johnson Museum August 8 - December 20, 2015)
