His leaf apron and collar and his long hair identify him as a sennin, Taoist immortals of Buddhist origin who achieved immortality by meditation and asceticism. He appears almost skeletal in appearence as his ribs appear below his neck and between his parted robe. He holds a alms bowl in his right hand; his left had rests on raised left knee.
