The frame consists of an earth colored silk with a lighter tone of embroidered floral motifs. the composition within the frame is in gray ink; it depicts a willow next to a bamboo hut in the foreground. In the background there are more willows that extend backwards and two more huts. Further back is a mountain that echoes the shapes of the willows in its sketchy/ broken brushwork. Upper left corner bears an inscription which translates as: "Spring can hardly penetrate to this remote backwater / the sun sinks down gently behind the ancient mountains / After fishing boat returns returns from afar, I hear the cries of a nightingale and a shore bird, but where are they? / The second month, 1842, Kaikyaku."
