Label CopyThis carved Mezcala greenstone figure stands with arms bent at the elbows and held in front of the rounded abdomen. The legs are separated, and the head is well set-off from the body by a narrow neck. The facial features are sharply geometric, with prominent eyebrows and lines at the side of the face indicating a hairstyle or stylized ears. The eyes and mouth are only roughly indicated by pecked areas. The figure may represent a pregnant female since there is a slit for (female) genitalia just below the rounded belly.
