Label CopyIn Amsterdam, as in Venice, Whistler included architectural details in his prints, both directly and as reflections in the water of the canals. Here he used warm tones to depict an everyday scene. Despite Whistler’s skill in portraying textiles, he conceals the titular embroidered curtain and lets the woman on the left show off the handiwork, which must be left to our imagination.
