The obverse features a left pofile bust of Major General Winfield Scott who is flanked by stars--fifteen on each side.  A banner above contains the sitter's name while an inscription is found beneath.  The reverse features multiple vignettes of the Mexican campaigns from the Mexican-American War.  The City of Mexico is seen within the center with other key cities such as Vera Cruz and Contreras are also seen, with soldiers fighting on the battlefield, each surrounded within a wreath of oak and laurel leaves.
