The obverse features two allegorical female figures representing France and the United States who are seated and joining hands while a smaller, winged figure is seated in front of them.  In the background stands the Statue of Liberty, shining within New York Harbor while ships sail in the background.  The reverse features a small bust of the artist August Bartholdi atop two shields and a sprig of laurel leaves.  A commemorative inscription is seen below in French while a blank cartouche is seen at the bottom.
