Obverse features a frontal bust portrait of the figure of Dionysus with bearded face and crown of grape leaves and grape clusters. A wine tazza is seen beneath his head which is encircled with small raised circles. The inscription: Hail to Dionysus who first discovered the magic of the grape surrounds the edge of the medal, with each word seperated by a small flower.
The reverse featuresthe image of two small fawns within a wine press full of grapes. The two figures are stomping on the grapes with their hooved-feet but they are clasping their arms as if they are beginning to dance or possibly argue. They are flanked by large bunches of grapes with stylized stems. The edge of the medal is decorated in a raised pattern.
