Patina: tarnished Purpose: official commemorative medal. The obverse features an image of Henry Hudson on the deck of his ship, surrounded by members of his crew as they look overboard upon what would become the Hudson River.  The reverse features an image of three allegorical female figures who commemorate the use of steam in navigation, dressed in their neoclassical gowns.  The three figures are seated within a semi-circular lunette that looks out upon the shores of Hudson River.  The larger, central figure holds a small steamship while the figure to her right holds an anchor and the figure to her left holds a pen and a large rolled out paper--one might assume a map.  Directly behind the central figure is a portrait of Robert Fulton seen hanging within a round, laurel leaf frame.  To either side of the portrait are classical looking columns."},"medium":{"label":"Medium","value":"Silver"},"onview":{"label":"On View","value":"0"},"media":{"label":"Media","value":"94.007.058"},"title":{"label":"Title","value":"Hudson-Fulton Celebration, Hudson-Fulton Celebration Offial Commemorative Medal"},"classification":{"label":"Classifications","value":"Metalwork"},"people":{"label":"Artist / Maker / Culture","value":["Emil Fuchs","Whitehead & Hoag"]},"primaryMedia":{"value":"https://emuseum.cornell.edu/internal/media/dispatcher/93253/full"},"displayDate":{"label":"Date","value":"1909"},"id":{"label":"Id","value":"186436"},"dimensions":{"label":"Dimensions","value":"Diameter: 4 inches (10.2 cm)"}}]}
