Lid is surmounted by a mongrel of fu-dog with its head turned back facing his tail.  The figure acts as a knob.  The mongrel dog has inlaid gold stylized decorations.  On one side of the piece, two panels depict a scene of two cranes among foliage.  The other side depicts a swallow perched on a tree.
