Three spur marks on base. The low glazed foot rim and glazed base with three uneven spur marks are characteristic of the technique developed during the Koryo period. The interior decoration consists of a central design at the bottom of three chrysanthemums within a border of ju-i sceptre-heads, with five branches each bearing five pomegranates (or lichi) on the sides, and a scroll border below the lip. The exterior has a scroll border below the lip repeating the form found on the inside. Five branches each containing three pomegranates each are placed symmetrically around the middle. Above the foot rim are placed symmetrically five single chrysanthemums encircled by a border of two concentric lines. It is generally thought that wine as well as water was used in bowls of this shape and size. CONDITION: Very good. One slight vertical crack in rim, about one inch long.
