The pronounced decoration of each section is set against a repeating stylized pattern that differs for each section.  The pronounced motif for each section is as follows from top to bottom, respectively.  A partly repeating stylized v-shaped pattern surrounds the neck that exhibits S-shaped brass side handles.  A repeating cicada motif circles the upper body of the vase.  An array of lotus blossoms and bats adorn the central body of the piece.
