The ivory is of a slightly differt color; more opaque and yelllowish; The cylinrical, slightly curved with intricate openwork with a vague attempt at symmetry.  At bottom is a river or a lake with duck and boats.  Rising form this is a sort of mountain landscape built with trees, buildings, steep paths, and a few fanastical rock outcroppings.  People and horses move up the sttep trails or read inside the buildings.  At top on both sides is a five storied pagoda.  Many of the details, such as the architectural lelments and poses are repeated frequently throughout the carving.
